Around the World – Denmark: Government proposes to create a climate label for foodstuffs

The Danish Minister of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries announced an investment of 1.2 million euros for the development of the new labeling whose proposals will be presented later this year. The idea is to have a unified climate label that is controlled by the state, and in which consumers can trust, thus avoiding the presence of a wide variety of labels that only confuse.

Twenty-seven associations and companies of the Spanish fruit and vegetable sector request the improvement of the draft Royal Decree, which is currently being developed by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, to reinforce healthy eating among children.

Around the World – Spain: Exceptional and temporary labeling measures under Regulation (EU) 1169/2011

The regulation (twentieth additional provision) will allow companies to relabel products whose composition has been reformulated as long as the availability of certain resources is compromised for supply reasons.

Operators will therefore be able to use adhesive labels or stickers, ink-jet printing or other equivalent systems. The mandatory requirement is that they contain updated information on the ingredients replacing those previously used.

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition publishes the preliminary report of the final evaluation of compliance with the agreements of the collaboration plan for the improvement of the composition of food and beverages and other measures 2020.

The reformulation or improvement of food composition is one of the public health measures recommended by the European Union (EU) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to improve the food environment and facilitate healthier choices.

Around the World – Spain: AESAN warns of the presence of milk proteins not mentioned in the labeling of several alcoholic beverages

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN in Spanish) has learned through the Coordinated System for the Rapid Exchange of Information (SCIRI) of an alert notification sent by the health authorities of Catalonia, regarding the presence of milk proteins not included in the labeling of various spirits.

The manufacturing company will notify all its customers and will proceed to relabel the products appropriately.
