The National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT in Spanish) thru Joint Resolution No 10/2026, incorporates into the Argentine Food Code the Common Market Group (GMC) Resolution No 13/24 which establishes the “DEFINITION OF CONTAMINANT IN FOOD (modification of GMC Resolution No. 31/92).”

Article 6 of the Argentine Food Code is amended, establishing as “contaminated food” those that contain:

• Living agents (viruses, microorganisms, or parasites hazardous to health), chemical substances, minerals, or organic materials foreign to their normal composition, whether repulsive or toxic or not.
• Toxic natural components in concentrations higher than those permitted by regulatory requirements.
