Argentina – Amendment to the Food Code to include new food enzymes

Through Joint Resolution 7/2025, the Secretariat of Health Management and the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries have issued an amendment to the Food Code to include new food enzymes.

ARTICLE 1. – The following enzymes are added to the table in Article 1263 of Chapter XVI “Correctives and Adjuvants” of the Argentine Food Code:

Enzyme Name: Carboxypeptidase D

Source: Aspergillus oryzae expressed in Aspergillus oryzae

IUPAC No.: EC 3.4.11.1

Enzyme Name: Aminopeptidase

Source: Aspergillus oryzae expressed in Aspergillus oryzae”

Argentina – CONAL publishes several draft amendments to the Food Code related to alcoholic beverages, enzymes and labelling of foods and food supplements

The National Food Commission (CONAL in Spanish) has announced a series of draft amendments to the Argentine Food Code, specifically on the following topics:

  • Incorporation of dehydrated grape pomace.
  • Incorporation of dried apple pomace
  • Incorporation of partially dealcoholized and dealcoholized wine.
  • Incorporation of new enzymes for food use, Inc. of incorporation of microbiological criteria in article 1192.
  • Incorporation of glazing additives and anti-humectants / anti-caking agents in fruits.
  • Modification of Articles 1381 and 235.

Brazil: ANVISA publishes RDC Resolution No. 728 on enzymes and enzyme preparations

The Brazil’s National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA in Portuguese) published a regulation concerning enzymes.

This resolution is about enzymes and enzymatic preparations for use as technological adjuvants in the production of food intended for human consumption.

This Resolution does not apply to enzymes and enzyme preparations intended for use as components of food supplements.
