Argentina – CONAL publishes draft amendment to incorporate the 2 new mineral salts in supplements and fortified foods

The National Food Commission (CONAL in Spanish) has published a draft amendment to Article 1417 of the Argentine Food Code to incorporate the following mineral salts in supplements and fortified foods:

“21- FERRIC GLYCINATE.
Identification and purity as established in FCC, USP and other Pharmacopoeias. Use: as an ingredient in dietary supplements and fortified foods.”

“22- FERROUS GLYCINATE.
Identification and purity as stated in FCC, USP and other Pharmacopoeias. Use: as an ingredient in dietary supplements and fortified foods.”

Argentina – CONAL publishes draft amendment on fortified foods, beverages with added vitamins and/or minerals, powder for preparing added beverages and hydroelectrolyte supplements

The National Food Commission (CONAL in Spanish) has published a draft amendment to articles 1360, 1361, 1362 of the Argentine Food Code on fortified foods, Drinks added with vitamins and/or minerals, Powder to prepare an Added Drink and Hydroelectrolytic Supplement.

The main ones are:

  • Definition on fortified foods, Drinks added with vitamins and/or minerals, Powder to prepare Added Drink and Hydroelectrolytic Supplement.
  • The supply of vitamins and minerals
  • Quality specifications of the nutrients used.
  • Labeling requirements.

Chile – Ministry of Health publishes draft amendment to Food Sanitary Regulation on honey and natural syrups

Ministry of Health has published draft amendment to the Food Sanitary Regulation in Title XVII of the sugars and honey, paragraph II of the syrups and paragraph III of the honey, articles 391, 393, 393 BIS and 394 on the definition, types, identity and quality characteristics of honey and natural syrups. It also includes the definitions of corbicular pollen, royal jelly and honeydew honey.

Colombia – Ministry of Health publishes draft Resolution on sanitary requirements for canned tuna and tuna preparations

The Ministry of Health has published a draft Resolution that establishes the sanitary requirements to be met by canned tuna and tuna preparations manufactured, processed, packaged, stored, transported, imported and marketed in the national territory for human consumption.

Ecuador – ARCSA publishes draft reform of the Technical Sanitary Regulations for processed foods, processing plants, distribution, marketing and transportation establishments for processed foods and food service

The National Agency for Regulation, Control and Sanitary Surveillance (ARCSA in Spanish) has published a draft reform (PARTIAL AMENDMENT RESOLUTION-ARCSA-DE-2022-016-016-AKRG) of the Technical Sanitary Regulations for processed foods, processing plants, distribution establishments, marketing and transportation of processed foods and mass catering.
