Paraguay – Progress on the draft law “Establishing the implementation of the frontal warning labeling according to its nutritional composition”

The members of the Industry, Commerce and Tourism Commission analyzed the bill “Which establishes the implementation of the front warning labeling according to its nutritional composition”, presented by senators Pedro Santa Cruz, Gilberto Apuril, Blanca Ovelar, Desirée Masi and Esperanza Martínez.

The purpose of this document is to establish mandatory front warning labeling on processed and packaged food in the absence of the consumer and marketed in the national territory, according to the nutritional composition of energy (calories), sugars, saturated fats, trans fats and sodium.

The Americas – MERCOSUR: Health ministers meet to discuss Trans Fatty Acids and Front-End Labeling

The first meeting dealt with the progress made by the countries in relation to the Policies implemented for the elimination of Industrially Produced Trans Fatty Acids from the Food Chain (TVFA in Spanish) and future actions to be taken in order to adopt and implement regulatory mechanisms for the elimination of TVFA from the food chain in the Americas.
On the second day, the country delegations presented their Policies and Strategies implemented on physical activity in the school environment, and progress regarding Front Labeling for packaged foods.
