Ministry of Health has published draft amendment to the Food Sanitary Regulation in Title XVII of the sugars and honey, paragraph II of the syrups and paragraph III of the honey, articles 391, 393, 393 BIS and 394 on the definition, types, identity and quality characteristics of honey and natural syrups. It also includes the definitions of corbicular pollen, royal jelly and honeydew honey.

The Ecuadorian Standardization Services (INEN in Spanish) published the draft standard NTE INEN 3209 Standard for honey (CODEX STAN 12-1981, MOD). This standard applies to all honeys produced by Apis mellifera bees and regulates all types of honey presentations processed and ultimately intended for direct consumption. Part 2 applies to honey for industrial uses or honey used as an ingredient in other foodstuffs.
