Against this backdrop, the Ministry calls on the food industry to review its formulas and consider natural coloring alternatives, in line with international public health best practices. It also informs that a technical process of revision of the authorized colorants in Costa Rica will be initiated, taking as a reference the recommendations and findings of international organizations such as CODEX and regulatory authorities such as the FDA and the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority), among others.
