The National Chamber of Retailers and Related Products opposes the project that seeks the front labeling of foods high in fat, sodium or sugar.
In August of the previous year, Liberalists Andrea Álvarez and Monserrat Ruiz presented the bill “Front Labeling with Nutritional Warnings for Food Products and Beverages with Non-Alcoholic Content” (exp. 23.861).
Its purpose is to establish the obligation for products with high fat, sodium or sugar content to contain a black warning label on the front.
The bill has generated division both within the Legislative Assembly and in the productive sector, which has opposed the bill.
