Brazil – ANVISA opens a specific public consultation on the evaluation of measures to restrict industrial trans fats

The National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) has opened a specific consultation on the Regulatory Outcomes Assessment Plan (ARR) for measures restricting the use of industrial trans fats in food.

The objective is to gather technical input from researchers, public bodies, laboratories, and representatives of the productive sector to improve evaluation planning. The consultation is part of the preparatory phase of the Evaluation Review process and aims to ensure that the evaluation questions, indicators, and data sources are adequate for measuring the effects of Collegiate Board Resolution 632/2022 (RDC), a regulation that restricted the use of industrially produced trans fats in the country’s food supply.

The National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) has published Public Consultation No. 1,358, dated October 31, 2025, on the proposal to revise the regulations on nutritional labeling of packaged foods.

Brazil – Anvisa promotes sectoral dialog on foods for special uses

On November 17, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Anvisa will hold a Virtual Sectoral Dialog on foods for special purposes.

  • The purpose of this meeting is to present and discuss two draft regulations that are currently under development: the proposed Normative Instruction (IN) establishing the periodic update of IN 367/2025; and
  • The proposal for a specific amendment to the Collegiate Board Resolution (RDC) 976/2025, intended to correct unintentional substantive changes.

The initiative seeks to promote transparency and dialog with the regulated sector and other stakeholders, enabling the exchange of technical information and the clarification of doubts about the proposed changes.
