México – President of the Senate emphasizes the importance of the approval of the General Law on Adequate and Sustainable Food

At a press conference, the President of the Senate, Ana Lilia Rivera Rivera, explained that the new General Law on Adequate and Sustainable Food will lay the foundations for the promotion, protection, respect and guarantee of the right to food in Mexico. This new framework was approved by both Chambers of Congress and awaits publication in the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF).

Senator Ana Lilia Rivera emphasized that the regulation marks a historic milestone because of its obligatory cut towards the guarantee of healthy food for all Mexicans by the Mexican State. She also added that it leaves clear rules and precise institutions, with no budgetary impact, but with organization and order for the bodies involved.
