Peru – Published the Regulations of the Food and Nutrition Security Law
The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI in Spanish) published Supreme Decree No. 003-2024-MIDAGRI approving the Regulations of Law No. 31315, Food and Nutritional Security Law.
Brazil – ANVISA publishes modification of the list of parts of plant species authorized for the preparation of teas in Annex I of the Normative Instruction – IN No. 159
The National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA in Portuguese) has published the Normative Instruction – IN No. 159, dated July 1, 2022, which establishes the lists of plant parts authorized for the preparation of teas and for use as spices.
Annex I of Normative Instruction – IN No. 159, of 2022, enters into force with the addition of the scientific names of the plant species listed in Annex II of this Normative Instruction.
This Normative Instruction comes into force on March 4, 2024.
Brazil – ANVISA publishes amended list of food additives and processing aids authorized for use in foodstuffs
The National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA in Portuguese) has published Normative Instruction IN No. 274, which amends Normative Instruction IN No. 211 of March 2023, which establishes the technological functions, maximum limits and conditions of use of food additives and technological aids authorized for use in food.
Annex III of Normative Instruction – IN No. 211 of 2023 comes into force, in addition to the food additives, their respective technological functions, maximum limits and conditions of use that appear in the Annex to this Normative Instruction.
This Normative Instruction comes into force on March 4, 2024.
Brazil – ANVISA publishes modifications on the use of D-Ribose in food supplements
The National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA in Portuguese) has published Normative Instruction IN No. 275, which amends Normative Instruction No. 28, dated July 26, 2018, establishing the lists of constituents, limits of use, declarations and supplementary labeling of food supplements.
It establishes the age groups and maximum levels for D-ribose.
This Normative Instruction comes into force on the date of its publication.
